Cut audio without uploading it anywhere

Most online cutters send your file to a server, trim it there, and hand you back a download. This one can't: the editor is FFmpeg (the open-source engine behind most audio software) compiled to WebAssembly, running inside your browser tab. There is no upload step in the code. We never see your files, so we can't store them, leak them, or train on them. That matters more for a cutter than almost any tool, because the things people trim are personal: voice memos, interviews, rehearsal takes, a section of a song for a ringtone.

Lossless cut or precise trim, honestly explained

Lossless cut (the default) copies the compressed audio without touching it. It is instant, and the quality is exactly what you started with, because nothing is re-encoded. The tradeoff: compressed formats store audio in small frames, so the cut snaps to the nearest frame edge, usually within two or three hundredths of a second. For ringtones, podcast clips, and voice notes, that is more than close enough.

Precise trim (pick any export format) decodes the audio and re-encodes your selection, giving you sample-accurate edges and any output format you like. The honest cost: one generation of lossy encoding if you export to MP3, M4A, OGG, or OPUS. Choose 320 kbps and the difference stays inaudible for most listeners; export WAV, FLAC, or AIFF and there is no loss at all.

Ringtones, clips, and voice notes

The classic job: cut the chorus for a ringtone. Keep it under 30 seconds, export MP3 for Android (most phones accept it directly in the ringtone picker), or M4A for iPhone (import it through GarageBand, which can save any clip as a ringtone). The other daily jobs this tool handles: trimming silence off a voice memo before sending it, clipping a quote out of a podcast or interview, and cutting a rehearsal recording down to the take worth keeping.

Is my audio uploaded to a server?

No. The cutter is FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, running inside your browser. Your file never leaves your device; we never see it, store it, or train on it.

Does cutting reduce the audio quality?

In lossless cut mode, no: the audio data is copied without re-encoding, so quality is untouched. The cut lands on the nearest frame boundary, within a few hundredths of a second. Precise mode re-encodes for sample-accurate edges; at 320 kbps the difference is inaudible for most listeners.

Can I make a ringtone with this?

Yes. Cut the section you want (ringtones are usually under 30 seconds) and export it. Android phones accept MP3 ringtones directly. iPhones want the ringtone imported through GarageBand or iTunes, so export M4A for the smoothest path.

What is the difference between lossless cut and precise trim?

Lossless cut copies the compressed audio as-is: instant and quality-perfect, but the cut snaps to the format's frame grid. Precise trim decodes and re-encodes, which gives exact millisecond edges in any output format at the cost of one encode generation.
