Mute the vocals, drums, or music on any YouTube video
Stem Supply puts three buttons under every YouTube video. Click one and that part of the song disappears, powered by AI stem separation that runs entirely on your device. Karaoke without the singer, practice without the drummer, play along without the band.
Instant karaoke
Mute the vocals on any song on YouTube and sing the lead yourself. No backing-track hunting, no uploads.
Drumless practice tracks
Drummers: mute the kit and play along with the real band. Any song on YouTube becomes a practice track.
Play-along for any instrument
Mute the music and keep the vocals to learn the arrangement, or solo what you need while you practice.
Nightcore and Slowed + Reverb
One-click presets, plus custom speed, pitch, and reverb controls. Speed changes are native and lossless.
Private by design
The AI runs in your browser with WebGPU. Nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded. No account, ever.
Made by a real audio company
Same engine family as Xport Studio, our offline desktop app for stems, AI vocals, and mastering.
Nightcore and Slowed + Reverb, built in
Stem Supply is not just a stem splitter. One click plays any YouTube song as a slowed and reverb edit (real convolution reverb, not an echo filter) or as nightcore, sped up and pitched up with lossless native speed. There is a daycore-friendly custom mode too: set any speed from 0.5x to 1.5x, add reverb to taste, keep or shift the pitch. Combine the vibes with the mutes: a slowed instrumental with no vocals, or a nightcore version with the drums gone.
How to mute vocals or drums on a YouTube video
- Install Stem Supply from the Chrome Web Store (free, works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera).
- Open any YouTube video. The Stem Supply bar appears right under the player.
- Click Mute Vocals, Mute Music, or Mute Drums. The first time, Chrome asks you to click the extension icon in your toolbar once, that is its standard permission for audio access.
- Let the song play at normal speed while the AI learns it. The status bar shows progress live.
- Rewind or loop into any part it has learned and the mute goes studio-clean. Combine buttons freely: vocals plus drums, everything except bass, whatever you need.
How it works, honestly
A song on YouTube is one mixed signal, so "muting the drums" means an AI model has to pull the hidden drum track back out of the finished mix. Stem Supply does that separation on your device while the video plays, then swaps the muted version in seamlessly wherever the song has been learned. During brand-new, never-heard parts of a track you hear a lighter quick-cut effect; loops, rewinds, and replays get the full AI treatment. That is the physics of live stem separation, and we would rather explain it than pretend otherwise.
Everything runs locally: the model downloads once to your machine and your audio never touches a server. It is the same privacy rule every Xport tool follows.
Want the actual stem files?
The extension is for listening and practicing inside YouTube. When you want clean, full-length stem files of your own tracks, vocals, drums, bass, and music as separate WAVs, that is Xport Studio's stem splitter in our free desktop app. GPU-fast, batch capable, and just as private.
FAQ
Is Stem Supply really free?
Yes. No credits, no trial, no account, no paywall on the three mute buttons. It exists so you discover Xport Studio, our desktop app, which has a free tier too.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. The AI model runs inside your browser on your own hardware. Nothing is recorded, saved, or sent to a server, and the extension only runs on youtube.com.
Why do clean stems need the song to play through once?
The AI separates the song as it plays, a few seconds at a time. Parts it has already learned play studio-clean instantly, which is why loops and rewinds sound best. No extension can cleanly separate audio it has not heard yet, whatever their marketing says.
Does it work on Spotify or Apple Music?
No. Those services encrypt their audio streams (DRM), which browsers do not let any extension touch. YouTube works great.
Can I download the separated stems?
Not from YouTube, that is a copyright line we choose not to cross. To split your own files into downloadable stems, use the free Xport Studio desktop app.
What do I need for it to run well?
A desktop browser and a reasonably recent computer. With WebGPU (Chrome and friends on most modern machines) the AI separates several times faster than the song plays. Older machines fall back to a slower engine that still works.
Why does Chrome make me click the extension icon once?
Chrome requires one explicit click on the extension before any extension may process a tab's audio. It is a good privacy rule, and it only happens once per tab.
Can it play songs slowed + reverb or nightcore?
Yes, one click each. Slowed + Reverb uses lossless native speed with a real convolution reverb, and Nightcore speeds up and pitches up the song the classic way. Custom speed, pitch, and reverb sliders are included, and both combine with the mutes.
Is muting drums harder than muting vocals?
Yes, drums bleed into everything in a mix, which is why most tools skip them. Stem Supply ships a full four-stem model, and a Studio-grade drum specialist model is on the roadmap.
