Why convert AAC to AIFF?
AIFF is the uncompressed format Mac audio software grew up with, and some Logic, GarageBand and sampler workflows prefer it. Raw AAC files often import poorly or not at all. Convert when you need to drop audio that arrived as AAC into a Mac DAW or sampler, or when you plan to edit it repeatedly without adding another lossy generation on each export.
Quality and file size
Converting to AIFF decodes the AAC into uncompressed audio, so the AIFF sounds exactly like the AAC and cannot restore detail the lossy encode removed. The advantage is a clean working file that will not lose more quality as you edit and bounce. The file will be much larger, roughly ten megabytes per minute of stereo audio. Keep it as your session file and export to a lossy format only at the end.

Does AIFF make my AAC sound better?
No. AIFF is an exact uncompressed copy of the decoded AAC, so it sounds identical. It just gives you an editing-safe file that will not degrade further.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device, and we never see it, store it, or train on it.
AIFF or WAV for a Mac DAW?
Both are uncompressed and sound identical. Logic and GarageBand handle either perfectly. AIFF is a Mac tradition, while WAV is more common on Windows. Use whichever your workflow already uses.
Why is the AIFF file so large?
AIFF stores every sample uncompressed, while AAC is compressed. A track that is a few megabytes as AAC can easily be ten times larger as AIFF. That is expected.
